History

History Intent: At Finham Primary School, history is brought to life through a variety of engaging topics including The Romans, Vikings, Ancient Egypt and World War 2. In their history lessons, we want children to gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. We want to inspire pupils’ curiosity of the past and develop their understanding of how society has been shaped through significant events and individuals. Our teaching of history is intended to equip pupils to ask questions about the past, think critically, develop opinions and analyse evidence. Pupils will gain knowledge and skills, not just through experiences within the classroom, but also through fieldwork and educational visits, enabling them to deepen their understanding of who and what has shaped our world today.  We want our children to love history and for them to grow up wanting to be archaeologists, researchers, museum curators or archivists. Our history curriculum has been carefully designed so that all children develop their historical knowledge of Britain and the wider world.
