Religious Education
RE Intent: Our RE framework promotes our school ethos and is underpinned by our five school values. We believe that RE should equip pupils with skills and knowledge for the world we live in today. RE should promote and enable pupils to explore big questions about life, to find out what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live, so that pupils can make sense of religion, reflecting on their own ideas and ways of living. Where possible, we learn about religious festivals by having celebration days at school. We invite speakers in and visit places of worship to enhance the children’s understanding of different religions. The objectives of RE are to enable children to:
The syllabus does not recommend tackling six religions across a Key Stage. Depth is more important than overstretched breadth. The exception of this is to have ‘Celebration Days’ for Eid, Diwali and Christmas so children are celebrating their religious beliefs within school each year to represent the beliefs of children in our school.
